We are looking for a talented Design Engineer to serve as a critical link between customer representatives, in-house assembly and engineering team members, and external fabricators to ensure all requirements are considered thoughtfully, tested rigorously, and implemented successfully.

Here's what you'll be doing: 

  • Establishing best practices for the design and construction of processing equipment and ensure team members are trained in and follow those programs

  • Applying state-of-the-art computer modeling techniques including CAD and CFD software to assess the best form, fit, and function of manufactured parts

  • Gathering requirements from R&D scientists to improve experimental setups and generate rapid prototypes for testing

  • Designing and carrying out experiments to confirm all designed parts work as intended, and present findings to the business

  • Leading customer design reviews and FMEAs

  • Developing conceptual layouts, detailed designs, and prototypes for chemical processing equipment to deliver to fabricators

  • Working with vendors and commercial staff to develop manufacturing cost quotations

  • Instituting mechanical integrity program to monitor equipment performance at VFT and customer locations including regular testing and ensuring maintenance tasks are carried out

  • Compiling documentation for manufactured systems to ensure compliance with both internal and external regulations and protocols

  • Providing input of best manufacturing and safety processes on the production line

  • De-bottlenecking current manufacturing processes through the optimization of existing equipment and acquisition of new technology & equipment

  • Troubleshooting and solving existing manufacturing /quality problems to improve up time and first time prime quality

  • Conferring with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts

  • Testing newly installed machines and equipment to ensure fulfillment of contract specifications

  • Evaluating, analyzing, and making recommendations on products, designs and cost improvements to improve the competitive position of the company

  • Developing models of alternate processing methods to test feasibility of new applications of system components and recommends implementation of improved procedures

Education and/or Experience:

                     

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering

  • 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment

  • CAD and CFD software experience

Skills, Abilities & Qualifications:

  • Strong practical knowledge of ASME and other related codes

  • Familiarity with database, project management, spreadsheet, and word processing software

  • Knowledge of Six Sigma is preferred

  • Experience with project commissioning is a plus

  • Familiarity with various manufacturing methods 

  • Familiarity with various engineering materials 

  • Self-motivated and results driven attitude 

  • Ability to effectively present complex information to both internal and external groups
